Each week during the 2021 season we’ll offer some news, notes, tidbits and opinions from each of the five divisions in the Mid-Penn Conference.
For all the marbles
The 2021 Keystone Division champion will be decided Friday night at The Roc when Cedar Cliff pays a visit to Bishop McDevitt. The pair of one-loss teams are each 3-0 in the division, and it’s been pretty clear for weeks this matchup will be for all the marbles. For all of the fireworks the Crusaders bring to the table offensively, the guts of this game, for me, will come down to how much hay the Colts offense can make against the McD defense. I think by halftime the answer will be fully known. McDevitt is still a heavy favorite, though.
Surprising Palmyra with another big opportunity
Palmyra needs to keep its foot on the gas. The Cougars have created a real opportunity to make this season something special with three wins in their last four games. Winless Hershey is on deck, and this one falls under the win-the-game-you-should category. It would move Palmyra to 4-3 and set the table for a potential six- or maybe even seven-win regular season. They are the biggest surprise in 2021.
