The league formerly known as the Tri-Valley sure does love these polls.
Once again it was a former TVL squad that saw one of its players claim the 4th Down Magazine Small School Player of the Week honors. This time it was Upper Dauphin and junior Brady Morgan.
The running back/defensive back edged out Tri-Valley’s Kameron Wetzel in perhaps the tightest race of the season, earning 1,160 votes to Wetzel’s 1,085, or 37.1% to 34.7% of the 3,128 total votes cast.
Morgan earned the favor of the Trojans faithful, chugging away for 175 yards and two scores (34 and 2 yards), plus a two-point conversion, on 20 carries. He also added two pass breakups. His effort led a 36-6 win over Line Mountain, following a one-week COVID-related break, to push UD to 4-1 (2-1 Mid-Penn Liberty).
For the season, Morgan leads the Trojans with 554 rushing yards and eight TDs on 60 carries while also pacing the team in receiving with 12 catches for 108 stripes. Defensively, he already has three interceptions and a fumble recovery.
Coming off three straight wins, UD visits Susquenita on Friday in Week 7 action.
