PIAA Class 2A Quarterfinal:

Steelton-Highspire vs. Southern Columbia at Selinsgrove High School, Friday, November 21, 7

Andy Shay: Southern Columbia 35, Steel-High 21: There is a very, very good reason for more than a decade the Tigers have been considered one of the two or three best overall programs in Pennsylvania. These types of games are the reason. The Rollers will land some punches, but SC counters punches better than most. To boot the Tigers are in peak form.

Andy Sandrik: Southern Columbia 41, Steel-High 28: The Tigers have been on a roll ever since a competitive Week 1 loss to Wyomissing. I want to believe Steel-High can stay in this game, but SC is a legendary program for a reason.

Adam Kulikowski: Southern Columbia 41, Steel-High 30: The Tigers possess three rushers who average more than 6.4 yards-per-carry. That tells me the big eaters up front are busting holes for their backs in dominating fashion.

PIAA Class 3A Quarterfinal:

Neumann-Goretti vs. Trinity at Exeter Township High School, Friday, November 21, 7

Andy Shay: Trinity 21, Neumann-Goretti 14: This is a very tight matchup and the similarities between these two clubs is spooky. Expect a defensive battle all the way with third down conversion and keeping drives alive as a huge hidden key. If N-G gets to 20-plus points first, they win the game.

Andy Sandrik: Neumann-Goretti 21, Trinity 13: Two top-tier defenses are set to duke it out with a trip to the semifinals on the line. It doesn’t get much better than this.

Adam Kulikowski: Trinity 14, Neumann-Goretti 7: Defense wins championships–or at least will get you to the semifinals. I see this one being decided by one big play.

PIAA Class 4A Quarterfinal:

Susquehanna Twp. vs. Twin Valley at Eastern Lebanon County High School, Friday, November 21, 7

Andy Shay: Twin Valley 35, Susquehanna Township 14: That was a legendary win by the Tribe over Wyomissing. The drama on winning the game on the last snap will grow in lore as time marches on. Incredible. And the reward is the No. 1 ranked team in the state. Teams are a combined 24-0 so they each know how to win. Remember only a month or so ago the Raiders beat Wyomissing by three touchdowns.

Andy Sandrik: Twin Valley 28, Susquehanna Township 25: For every path to victory I find for ‘Hanna, I find three more for Twin Valley.

Adam Kulikowski: Susquehanna Township 37, Twin Valley 35: These two clubs have been on a collision path for weeks and I doubt they will disappoint. Expect plenty of haymakers to land for each club as this one comes down to the final minutes.

District 3 5A Championship:

Solanco vs. Bishop Mcdevitt at Warwick High School, Friday, November 21, 7

Andy Shay: Bishop McDevitt 27, Solanco 20: After two weeks these clubs were a combined 1-3 overall and neither squad has lost a game since. This is a comfort zone game for me. McD stays in that playing from ahead spot they win. Solanco knocks them off their spot and is able to change the tone and tenor they have a huge advantage.

Andy Sandrik: Bishop McDevitt 40, Solanco 17: Few teams are dominating the playoffs in the same way as McDevitt, which has pasted two postseason opponents by a combined 89-7 score.

Adam Kulikowski: Bishop McDevitt 45, Solanco 14: When I look at this match up, I struggle to see a way Solanco keeps it close for four quarters–and these gents are part of a talented roster. Just my honest opinion.

District 3 6A Championship:

Central York vs. Harrisburg at Cedar Cliff High School, Friday, November 21, 7

Andy Shay: Harrisburg 28, Central York 10: Over the course of the last nine games exactly ONE team – Cumberland Valley – has scored more than one touchdown against this Harrisburg defense. This time of year defense and running game matter a LOT and the Cougars excel on both fronts. Also two of the first three teams Harrisburg played to start this season are still around in late November so add battle tested to their arsenal.

Andy Sandrik: Harrisburg 28, Central York 18: I’m not sure if Cougars’ QB Brooklyn Nace has seen the caliber of defense brought to the table by Harrisburg, which has piled up 45 sacks and 17 interceptions this season.

Adam Kulikowski: Harrisburg 35, Central York 20: Cougars can knock you out in a multitude of ways. Can CY find a way to sustain success against arguably the best defense they’ve faced all season?

PIAA Class 6A Quarterfinal:

State College vs. Pittsburgh Central Catholic at Mansion Park in Altoona, Friday, November 21, 7

Andy Shay: Pittsburgh Central Catholic 35, State College 21: I fully expect the Little Lions to give a high quality effort that pushes PCC and it still won’t be enough to overcome the Vikings, who are balanced, efficient and are imposing their will on teams as the stakes get higher.

Andy Sandrik: Pittsburgh Central Catholic 42, State College 18: The Vikings have three players with at least eight sacks, including Ashton Blatt, who leads his team with 13.5. With PCC possessing that kind of control over the line of scrimmage, this will most certainly be an uphill battle for the Little Lions.

Adam Kulikowski: Pittsburgh Central Catholic 33. State College 28: I see this as a closer battle than others, but one that every break possible will need to go the Little Lions way to achieve.
