Andy Shay’s Elite 11 Rankings After Week 1

Week 1 didn’t disappoint—unless you were an offense stuck in neutral. Defense ruled the day for some, while others lit up the scoreboard like it was Week 10. Our Elite 11 has already seen movement, upsets, and statement wins as we dive headfirst into the 2025 season.

11. Cumberland Valley0-18
Defense gets a helmet sticker for holding Manheim Township to seven points. Offense should be running extra hills and wind sprints as we speak.
10. Manheim Township1-011
Any win over a fellow Elite 11 squad is worth double on the quality points scale. Been a while since the winning team had seven points, but Blue Streaks defense blanked Cumberland Valley to claim a squeaker. Next up is another Elite 11 outfit.
9. Exeter Township1-010
Eagles claim the Pig Iron Trophy by clobbering Daniel Boone by 57 points. It was 64-0 at halftime. Impressive start.
8.Conestoga Valley1-09
Never hurts when your defense puts up a doughnut to start the season against a quality opponent. I love the intrigue in L-L Section 2 this season.
7. Susquehanna Township1-06
Only the score was close in the opener against a York County opponent. And Hanna won by four touchdowns. Superior QB play and big plays were the difference makers.
6. Wyomissing1-07
Hammered Southern Columbia by three touchdowns and came one point shy of a 50-burger. Yeah this team is going to be a problem for the lone haul.
5. Bishop McDevitt0-12
No worries about the struggles on offense those can be fixed, but the Crusaders defense getting pushed around and rolled for 27 points is a cause for concern. On deck No. 1 Harrisburg and McD is staring down the barrel of 0-2.
4. Wilson1-05
At the end of the day the result was obtained, but it was a tighter battle than it probably should have been. Bulldogs scoring 35 was telling and bodes well moving forward.
3. State College1-04
Workmanlike victory to open the season and the Little Lions had their 41 points and victory secured before shutting it down with 11 minutes to go. Impressive.
2. Central York1-03
In Beau you should trust, right. I mean I would never bet against the dude after the “game” he showed last year in terms of doing whatever it took. Yes there are some major playmakers that have moved on but overall, though, this is a squad with precious few questions that need answers.
1. Harrisburg1-01
Six touchdowns against a high quality outfit like Imhotep Charter is a warning sign to everyone. That’s a next level gear not often found in Week 1 on a level playing field.
