Cedar Cliff Coaching Staff

Colin Gillen

Coach Gillen, began his football career in high school as a three-year letter winner on the offensive line for the ELCO Raiders. He continued his playing days as an offensive lineman for the Juniata College Eagles. Colin was a two-year letter winner and received the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame Scholar Athlete Award in 1999, as well as the Juniata College 'Blood Award' in 2000. Coach Gillen began his coaching career as an assistant on the defensive line for the Huntingdon Bearcats. During his year at Huntingdon High School, the Bearcats won the Big Eight Football Conference as well as the District 6 AAA Championship. Colin spent the next 7 years as an assistant offensive and defensive line coach as well as a high school math teacher at ELCO High School. In 2008, Coach Gillen made the transition to Cedar Cliff High School as a math teacher and assistant football coach under former head coach Jim Cantafio. Colin has spent the last 6 years coaching offensive line for the Colts. This time has been highlighted by 5 straight District 3 AAAA playoff appearances and a Mid Penn Keystone Division Championship in 2013. Colin resides in Camp Hill with his wife, Alison and three children, Seth, Kallie and Joshua. Coach Gillen believes that football is not just about producing winners on the field but also in the classroom, in the community, and at home.

Tim Froelich

Coach Froelich, aka Coach Fro, is a graduate of Hempfield High School in Lancaster County. Following high school, Tim continued his playing career at Kutztown University (91-94) as a three-year started on the defensive line. He began his coaching career at Upper Dauphin Area High School (96-00) as an assistant coach and followed that up with serving as head coach and defensive coordinator (01-06). In 2008 Tim joined the CD East staff serving as linebackers and offensive line coach. Before joining the Colts staff he spent two seasons (10-11) at Lower Dauphin High School serving as linebackers and defensive coordinator. Over the past two years Tim has been the linebackers coach with the Cedar Cliff Program and takes on the task of defensive coordinator this season. Coach Froelich resides in West Hanover Township with his wife Nicole, daughters Addison and Lillian.

Zach Pottieger

Coach Potteiger is a 1997 graduate of Cedar Cliff High School. He has enjoyed his opportunity to coach high school football for 10 years while coaching some very successful teams. He teaches 6th & 7th grade social studies at Crossroads Middle School and has done so for the last twelve years. He is married to his amazing wife Karlee, and have welcomed to the family a wonderful baby boy named Reid. Oh and his dog Piper! Coach is very excited to be back at his alma mater working with a great bunch of young men!

Ken Sheaffer

Coach Sheaffer returns to the Colts staff for his seventh year as an assistant offensive line coach. Formerly he was a defensive line coach at Lebanon High School and also was head JV coach. Prior to his Lebanon coaching duties, Ken served in various coaching duties at CD East High School, including head coach of the undefeated 2001 freshmen team. Ken was involved with the youth programs at Paxton, Linglestown, Rutherford and also was a founder of the Swatara Youth Football Program. Ken resides in Rutherford, has 3 children and 3 grandchildren, Zavia, Allysa and Micah.

Tom Sacoman

Coach Sacoman is a 1985 graduate of Cumberland Valley High School, where he was a member of the 1985 Mid Penn Division 1, District III championship football team. While there, he also participated in wrestling, earning three sectional championships and placing third in the 1985 state championships at the heavyweight division. A 1990 graduate of Bloomsburg University, Tom earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Corporate Health & Fitness. While attending Bloomsburg, he was also a member of their Division 1 varsity team. Tom's previous coaching experiences include coaching football

and wrestling at Cumberland Valley High School from 1990 until 1998. From 1999 until 2002, he coached the freshmen and JV football teams at Cedar Cliff. In 2003, he transferred over to Red Land to assist in coaching their team, but returned to Cedar Cliff in 2007. He has also been the ninth grade and JV wrestling coach at Red Land since 1996.

Kevin Yarnevich

Coach Yarnevich is from West Brownsville, PA. In 1996, he graduated from California University of PA with a degree in secondary mathematics. He has been teaching for 18 years, and he is back at Cedar Cliff High School this year in the math department. Kevin has coached football for the past 17 years at various schools but most notable is his time at Steel-High where they won back-to-back state championships. Kevin is married to Jody, and he has two sons, Nick & Dylan.

Randy Yeager

Coach Yeager is in his first year at Cedar Cliff, coaching the defensive backs, but his 24th year coaching high school football. A 1985 graduate of Lower Dauphin High School, Coach Yeags was a Mid Penn all-conference player on offense and defense. Upon graduation he attended Kutztown University where he played tight end. In 1988 coach Yeager enlisted in the US Army and became a combat veteran during Operation Desert Storm in 1990-1991. He played tight end for two years with the Chambersburg Cardinals and then for the newly formed Central Penn Piranha from 1995-1997. Coach Yeager was with Lower Dauphin, Milton Hershey and mostly CD East during his coaching career. In that time he has been part of many division championship teams, two PIAA District 3 championships, a PIAA Eastern Regional championship and one berth to PIAA AAAA State Finals in 1995. Coach Yeager and his wife Stephanie are members of the Caring Community Church of God and have 4 children. Molly 22, Paige 18, Dylan 15 and Kyle 10. They currently reside in West Hanover Township where they anxiously await the start of the 2014 football season. Go Colts!

Ted Zindren

Coach Zindren ws born in Killeen, TX, but raised in Camp Hill, PA. He is a graduate of Cedar Cliff High School and the University of Pittsburgh, which he attending on a Army ROTC scholarship. After graduation, he was assigned to Fort Hood Texas and was deployed to the Persian Gulf for Operation Desert Shield/Storm. After leaving the Army, he worked in management for several local companies, but his true passion has been strength and conditioning. He has been the strength and conditioning coach at Cedar Cliff for five years. Ted resides in Etters with his wife Kelly, and his daughter Rachael.

Bob Schnarrs

Coach Schnarrs is in his second year with the Colts staff and entering his sixth year of coaching since graduating from Dickinson College in 1990. Bob played four years at the linebacker position and participated on two Centennial Conference championship teams. He currently resides in Camp Hill with his wife Melissa, son McGee, and daughter Gery.

Mike Spagnuolo

Coach Spagnuolo began his coaching career directly upon graduation from college. In 2001 he served as the Offensive Line Coach for Wilkes University. The following year Coach Spagnuolo was promoted to Offensive Coordinator at Wilkes University for 4 seasons. Upon relocating the Harrisburg area Coach Spagnuolo served in different capacities with several local schools. This will be his 3rd season as a coach with Cedar Cliff and will specialize in the passing game as well as Tight Ends and H Backs.

 

Freshman coaches:

 

Tom Hailey

Coach Hailey is in his first season as Colts Freshmen Head Coach. He is a lifelong resident of Steelton, PA. He is a product of Steel-High and Boston University. For three seasons, he was the head football coach at Steel-High. Coach Hailey is an 18-year coaching veteran of Mid-Penn Football. He is retired from the State Civil Service Commission and has been married to his wife Crystal for 26 years.

Chris Kambic

Coach Kambic taught Technology Education at James Buchanan High School from 1985-1988 and at Red Land from 1988-1998. He came to Cedar Cliff in 1998, where he continues his Technology Education teaching career. Chris coached football at James Buchanan High School from 1985-1986. He coached freshmen football at Red Land High School from 1988-1992. He was also the Head Middle School Track Coach at Cedar Cliff from 2007- 2011. He is currently the Head Boys Track and Field Coach at Cedar Cliff High School. Coach Kambic has been married for 28 years to Joanne. They have four children, Matthew, Ryan, Lauren and Nicholas.

Dave Simpson

Coach Simpson is a graduate of the Mechanicsburg Area School District where he played football, basketball and track from 1989- 1993. Dave attended Bethany College where he also played football and ran track. He graduated from Bethany in 1997 with a B.A. in Political Science. He earned a M.A. in Educational Technology Leadership from the George Washington University. This is Dave's first year coaching for Cedar Cliff's Freshman Program. Dave teaches at Cedar Cliff High School and lives in Mechanicsburg with his wife, Shawna and daughters Madeline and Grace.
