Mechanicsburg trot

MECHANICSBURG — Mechanicsburg fans had reason to cheer Friday night — but it was during pre-game and halftime festivities.

Unfortunately for the more than 100 football alumni honored at the game for the program’s 100th anniversary and the Mechanicsburg faithful in attendance, the game was not much to celebrate.


100 years

Friday night was a bit of a distraction.

Even though Mechanicsburg is off to an 0-3 start to the season, and last year’s three wins are the program’s only victories in three-plus seasons, there was reason for Wildcat pride before and during the 32-6 loss to Northern.

Anthony Rose has been waiting for this moment a long time.

The 41-year-old North Carolina native was approved by the Mechanicsburg school board Tuesday as the new varsity football coach, finally giving Rose the title he had long been waiting for.
