Somebody must have made a deal with Mother Nature for the 2017 version of Week Zero. The opening night of the season was blissfully cool and comfortable for late August.

And a team under stress, the Camp Hill Lions, could not hold up under the heat Palmyra brought in the fourth quarter at Buck Swank.

Bishop McDevitt blanks Red Land, 27-0 to spoil Patriots' home opener

Red Land made its intentions clear at the outset of Friday’s contest with Bishop McDevitt.

The Patriots spent the game’s opening drive in an unbalanced formation with just a single wideout, an effort at replicating the power-football formula that had garnered them an upset win in the teams’ previous meeting.

Bishop McDevitt quarterback Tayvon Bowers out for the season with knee injury

Bishop McDevitt quarterback Tayvon Bowers’ season is over. The senior quarterback, a Wake Forest commit, suffered a torn ACL and Meniscus in his left knee Friday against Lower Dauphin.

Making the Grade: Bishop McDevitt 7, Susquehanna Twp. 3

Neither head coach seemed all that surprised that Bishop McDevitt and Susquehanna Township ended up being a defensive battle claimed by the Crusaders 7-3.

Two powerful offenses were ground to nearly a halt by each defense in a game that featured only 251 total yards, 16 first downs and a staggering 13 punts.
